Why My Job as Your North Texas REALTOR® Doesn't End at the Closing Table
A few weeks ago, I got a message in a Facebook group from someone looking for a REALTOR® in North Texas. They didn't know me. I didn't know them. They were complete strangers who had seen my name recommended by people in their community.
That recommendation turned into a relationship — and last Tuesday, we closed on their new home.
But here's the part I want to tell you about.
What Happened After Closing
My clients headed out of town just days after closing. Before they left, I had already dropped off a housewarming plant for their new porch...a small way of saying welcome home and congratulations all at once.
While they were gone, I volunteered to stop by and water it. Their new house is just a few minutes from me, so it was no trouble at all. But while I was there, I had another idea.
They have two little boys.
So I left a surprise on the porch: two kid-sized chairs, just waiting for them when they got back.
No big announcement. No fanfare. Just something that felt right.
This Is What "Agent for Life" Actually Means
You'll hear a lot of REALTORS® talk about being an "agent for life." I want you to know what that looks like in practice — at least the way I do it.
It means I'm thinking about your family, not just your transaction. It means when you're out of town and your plant needs water, I'm the person who shows up. It means your kids matter to me too.
Real estate is personal. You're trusting someone with one of the biggest financial decisions of your life. That kind of trust deserves more than a handshake at the closing table and a wave goodbye.
From Strangers to Neighbors
What I love most about this story is where it started...a Facebook recommendation from people who believed in me enough to pass my name along. That kind of word-of-mouth is everything in this business, and I never take it for granted.
Those strangers became clients. Those clients became friends. And now I'm watering their plant and sneaking surprises onto their porch.
That's North Texas real estate the way I do it.
